So sorry but the Greenfield Library will be closed one more day for painting. We will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26.
The Greenfield Library will be closed for painting on Thursday, August 20; Friday, August 21; and Monday, August 24. As is usual during the summer, the library will also be closed on Saturday and Sunday (August 22 and 23). Thank you for your continued patience while we make improvements to the library space.
Three ranges of shelving in the Greenfield Library have been removed to create a new seating area. See below for before and after pictures.
When the new furniture arrives, we will put four tables in this area that, as you can see, is better lit than other areas of the first floor of the library. We hope that it will provide a comfortable place for you to do your work, read, study, etc.
The renovations are continuing and we hope they will all be complete in time for the fall semester. Still to come: fresh paint, new shelving end panels, additional electrical and network ports, and a laptop bar!
13,461 books were moved to compact shelving in the vault area of the library’s lower level and 48,295 books were shifted or removed before the shelves could be taken down. Once the shelves were removed and some were reinstalled in different locations, the books had to be reshelved. I think I can speak for the staff and students who did this work in saying that we are very happy this part of the project is finished! These efforts opened up 423 square feet of space for an additional seating area.
The Greenfield Library will be closed today, Tuesday, August 4, from 1:00 until 2:00 for drilling that is necessary for the installation of additional electrical outlets and network ports. We appreciate your continued patience and apologize for the inconvenience.
