On May 9, Continuing Education’s hard-working students received their Certificates of Completion at a special reception in recognition and celebration of their academic achievement.

Dean of Continuing Studies Erin Elman conveys her accolades to the assembled students, their families and friends.

Certificates were awarded to students who completed their course of study in Communication Design, Web Design, Web Design + Development, as well as Portfolio Development and Digital Photography.

Lisa Oster, BFA ’99 (Dance Education), speaks on behalf of the UArts Alumni Council.

Representatives from the University community were on-hand to congratulate the students. Lisa Oster, BFA ’99 (Dance Education) represented the UArts Alumni Council and officially conferred to the students their University of the Arts Alumni status, an accomplishment that makes available an extensive list of benefits since the Alumni Association is always on the lookout for great deals for alumni. One of the benefits many of our certificate students find most attractive is their ability to purchase high-quality auto, home and renter’s insurance at a group discount rate of 10-20 percent.  A comprehensive list of alumni benefits can be obtained online.

Event included a PowerPoint presentation of 2012 Certificate Recipients' work completed during their time in their respective programs and showcased the thesis projects from their capstone courses.

Although the Director of Career Services at the University of the Arts, Elisa Seeherman, was unable to attend, Elisa is pleased to extend the extensive services of UArts Career Services to the students. Career Services assists students and alumni by providing comprehensive resources and individual counseling tailored to their specific needs in the arts.  Services include career counseling, assistance with résumé and cover letter writing, and coaching on interview techniques/job search skills.

Continuing Education Coordinator Robert Craig presents Portfolio Development student, Blake Boenecke, with her certificate.

Additionally, these certificate recipients can look forward to gaining access to UArtsCareers, a comprehensive online listing of opportunities including internships, part-time jobs, summer jobs, freelance projects, auditions and full-time career positions.

Digital Photography Certificate recipients Cheryl Oribabor and Edward Maldonado catch up during the event.

Following the presentation of certificates, students, faculty, administration, friends and family attended a catered reception. This reception allowed all to mingle and recall their experiences in their respective programs before wishing one another success as they embark upon their professional careers.
