Library Staff Recommendation: A Canticle for Leibowitz

A Canticle for Leibowitz, Walter M. Miller Jr.’s only novel published within his lifetime, is a story of the connections between science and religion stretching over millennia. The three sections of the novel, “Fiat Homo,” “Fiat Lux,” and “Fiat Voluntas Tua” follow an abbey of monks of the “Albertian Order of St. Leibowitz” in southwest North America from the 26th to the 38th centuries as they do their best to preserve scientific and technologic achievement after the decimation of the planet through nuclear war and the panic and backlash that followed.

A dazzling science fiction epic, A Canticle for Leibowitz is a classic of the genre and an incredible read.
