No More Overdue Fines for Most Items

We’re always reviewing and reconsidering library policies, and we think you’ll like this decision: beginning this semester there will be no more overdue fines on circulating books, scores, videos, or CDs.

The nitty gritty details:

We will still charge replacement fees for lost items (something can be so overdue that it’s declared lost), and there will be fines for course reserve materials, library equipment, interlibrary loan items, and recalled materials. Please contact Kimberly Lesley if you have questions, or consult our web pages on policy for more information. We will not be waiving existing overdue fines, and materials checked out last semester may still incur overdue fines. Return everything and start anew!

Remember: you can always view your library record and renew most items at

Library Fine Forgiveness: Staff Council Food Drive

can hat

Now is your opportunity to direct your overdue fines to alleviating hunger in the Philadelphia region. All overdue fines paid will go to the UArts Staff Council PhilAbundance Food Drive. You may also choose to donate non-perishable food items in lieu of money. Please bring donation items to the circulation desk in Greenfield or in Music. Please note: this applies only to overdue fines. Lost items must still be replaced or paid for.

One item will cover up to $5.00 in overdue fines.
Two items will cover up to $10.00 in overdue fines and so on.
You must bring items to the Greenfield or Music Library circulation desk in order for us to waive your fines.

Deadline for food items is Monday, December 15. Food donations will only be accepted for overdue fines.

Items should be recently purchased, unopened and in good condition.
Cans or plastic bottles only, no glass containers, please. Boxed items are acceptable.
